Stockholm Furniture Fair and Stockholm Design Week are back in full force

After a three-year break, Stockholm Furniture Fair kick-started the design year 2023 with a buzzing fair with nearly 27,000 visitors from all over the world – and thus put Stockholm back on the international design map. Stockholm Furniture Fair is now experiencing the largest rebooking rate ever, with over one hundred furniture companies already signing up for Stockholm Furniture Fair 2024 only four weeks after the fair.

Stockholm Furniture Fair, the largest and most important meeting place for the Scandinavian design industry, is back. This February, 478 furniture companies exhibited, which generated 27,000 visits from all over the world. Among the exhibitors were Scandinavian companies such as Artek from Finland, Vestre from Norway, Friends & Founders from Denmark and Swedish Kinnarps.

The week kickstarted with a magnificent award dinner and ceremony in the Stockholm City Hall to celebrate the winners of the newly established Scandinavian Design Awards, a collaboration between Stockholm Furniture Fair and the media company It Is Media with the aim of promoting Scandinavian talent. Among the winners was the Swedish design studio Folkform, which received the Designer of the Year award. Other novelties initiated by Stockholm Furniture Fair for 2023 included the platform Дlvsjц gеrd, which displayed experimental and limited edition designs in an old manor next to the fair, as well as the new fair concept The Nude Edition – an area with small, ready-made stands of recycled materials. The Nude Edition was launched as an alternative for those looking for a more sustainable way of exhibiting and the material has now been returned to be recycled by the producer.

Many of the exhibitions shown at Stockholm Furniture Fair 2023 continue to other locations. The Guest of Honor exhibition with the Swedish design studio Front open at the museum Vandalorum in Vдrnamo in the fall of 2023 and the guest exhibition Now or Never by Emma Olbers is now installed at Form Design Center in Malmц and runs until June 11, 2023. To reduce the amount of combustible material left behind from exhibitors, Stockholmsmдssan collected 4.5 tons of wood, which is now sold second hand by the retailer Beijer in Sweden. Many exhibitors reuse most of their stands.

Stockholm Furniture Fair 2023 took place 7-11 February and Stockholm Design Week 6-12 February 2023.

Stockholm Furniture Fair 2024 will take place 6-10 February 2024 and Stockholm Design Week 5-11 February 2024.
