With summer finally here, Orrefors introduces a new highly anticipated mini vase collection that perfectly marries two Swedish traditions – the most popular holiday and Orrefors’ design excellence. Midsummer is a collection of seven elegant mini vases designed by internationally renowned architect and design studio Claesson Koivisto Rune. The collection is inspired by the old Midsummer’s-Eve tale, where collecting seven types of flowers – to be placed under your pillow – will bring you love and fortune on the longest day of the year.
The seven mini vases of the Midsummer collection showcase an unconditionally Scandinavian, sleek, and timeless design whilst each vase maintains its own confident and distinct character. Claesson Koivisto Rune’s formidable design impressively captures both the dynamic of the overarching Swedish tale of Midsummer and the interplay of the seven vases as a group. The compelling collection has already been recognized internationally, securing the prestigious Red Dot ‘Best of the Best’ Design Award.

Seeing the importance of the Midsummer holiday, Claesson Koivisto Rune and Orrefors looked to seven meadow flowers for inspiration in both design and name. Each vase has been named after a Swedish summer flower approved by the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation. Midsummer is mouth-blown and is launched in seven unique shapes with each style in a stand- alone colorway.
“The Midsummer collection manifests the essence of modern Scandinavian design by marrying essential style with human warmth,” says Eero Koivisto. “The mini vases are inclusive with both readily understandable and positive values, regardless from which cultural viewpoint they are observed.”
”Midsummer is in every regard a new Orrefors icon,” says David Carlson, Creative Director at Orrefors. “Timeless elegance inspired by tradition, nature, and minimalism – all presented with an almost conspicuous assurance.”
Midsummer is Orrefors’ third product collaboration with Claesson Koivisto Rune following the votive collection Tou and the vases in the Ebon collection. The Midsummer collection featuring seven mini vases is a perfect collectible, with select styles being exchanged for new ones in upcoming seasons.
