ASCER, the Spanish Association of Ceramic Tile and Pavement Manufacturers, in collaboration with the Habitat Trends Observatory (Observatorio de Tendencias del Hábitat), and with the support of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of the Valencian Government (Conselleria de Hacienda y Economía de la Generalitat Valenciana), has held a workshop to present and work on the 2026 trends in ceramic surfaces with specialized press in decoration, design, and lifestyle.
In a time marked by social transformation, technological acceleration, and the urgency of building more livable environments, the design of ceramic surfaces is positioned as one of the most influential material languages within contemporary living spaces.
Ceramics, in its diversity of formats, textures, and finishes, becomes a narrative medium that reflects the evolution of how we inhabit our spaces. Today more than ever, these surfaces transcend their technical function to acquire an expressive role: they connect the identity of spaces with values such as material honesty, circular ethics, memory, or sensorial exploration.
From wall tiles to floorings, including decorative pieces, the ceramic surface opens up as a territory for experimentation where artisanal tradition, technological innovation, and creative vision converge.
In this way, four decorative and graphic lines for ceramic surfaces for 2026 are proposed, developed by the Habitat Trends Observatory, which invite the exploration of new aesthetic and productive possibilities to continue positioning ceramics as a key element in the construction of memorable, sustainable, and profoundly human spaces.
Geomatter: material, memoria y origen / Geomatter: material, memory, and origin

This trend is the evolution of the geological and primal impulse, which transforms earth into narrative, strata into surface, and imperfection into beauty. The surfaces here are dense and textured, exposed without filters: roughness, erosions, and fragments. In a language that seems to emerge directly from a quarry, from a cut of earth, from a contemporary archaeological excavation.
Beauty does not reside in perfection, but in the trace, creating spaces where the material is not just seen: it is felt, read, and interpreted. This trend reconfigures space from the profound, and design does not merely decorate, but constructs, stratifies, remembers, and each surface tells a story of transformation.

Innerland: la nueva frontera del minimalismo / Innerland: the new frontier of minimalism

This trend proposes to redraw the home as an emotional territory, where each surface acts as a refuge, with ceramic pieces that speak to our touch, our soul, and our memory. A design that is not only seen but felt, based on conscious presence.
It creates enveloping, soft, and unhurried spaces, prioritizing material silence and atmospheric harmony, creating emotional refuges designed for rest and connection with oneself. A trend that does not seek to dazzle but to care, to give voice to intimacy, to the essential, reinventing design through emotion, calm, and the sensorial.

Heritage play: herencia viva / Heritage play: living heritage

Opulis: sentier el exceso / Opulis: feel the excess

Sophistication is redefined with an emotional and profoundly aesthetic perspective. An exuberant visual narrative emerges that enhances the richness of textures, noble materials, and finishes, creating atmospheres that seduce, move, and speak of heritage transformed with the language of the present.
Sophistication is reinvented through ceramic pieces that stand out for an emotional, sensorial, and profoundly visual aesthetic that merges the ornamental, the technological, and the symbolic. From dramatic opulence inspired by the past, to the poetic nature of shadow and the evolution with surfaces that have a liquid or futuristic appearance.
The finishes respond to light, and the artisanal dialogues with the digital, resulting in spaces where emotion, function, and beauty merge into an immersive and profoundly contemporary experience.
