The Puma Group is providing its solutions for the structural repair of the Júcar Canal.
The rehabilitation of the Júcar Canal required advanced solutions from Grupo Puma to address complex conditions: constant humidity, concrete degradation, corrosion, and strictly limited execution windows. The works were structured in various stages because the canal had to be refilled for irrigation and drinking water supply between March and October. Following an initial phase in 2019 and a subsequent halt, Phase II began in 2023, targeting both the exterior and interior of the infrastructure. Despite delays caused by the DANA floods in October 2024, work campaigns continued through 2025 until March 2026.
The structural repair followed the UNE-EN 1504 standard framework. After chipping away the damaged areas, the steel bars were cleaned of rust and passivated using IMPALREST EP. As a preventive measure, INHIBIDOR CX 2020 was applied to halt corrosion processes, and concrete volumes were restored using MORCEMREST RF 35 structural mortar.
For exterior protection, MORCEMREST ANTICARBONATACIÓN paint was applied to prevent $CO_2$ penetration. In the interior, which faces direct and continuous water exposure, the MORCEM DRY SF PLUS waterproofing cementitious membrane was used. The project was completed by sealing expansion joints with PUMALASTIC PU, PVC elastic bands, and CARBOTEC adhesive, alongside PUMAFIX TQV chemical anchors for reinforcing bars. This comprehensive intervention by Grupo Puma ensures the durability, watertightness, and extended service life of this critical hydraulic infrastructure.
