Patricia Urquiola in the Trend Space: evolution and new design elements for Heimtextil 2027

At Heimtextil 2027, from 12 to 15 January, the Trend Space brings to life the Heimtextil Trends 27/28, «Home-Maxxing – The Performance of Everyday Living», curated by Alcova. Within this framework, the collaboration with architect and designer Patricia Urquiola enters its third year, and for the first time both long-standing partnerships come together directly in the Trend Space.

Urquiola presents three sculptures: the familiar «Bambi», a hybrid silver creature shown digitally in 2025 and as a physical piece in the 2026 «among-all» installation, plus two new figures created specifically for Heimtextil. Together they offer her interpretation of the trend theme. She describes them as the third chapter of an evolving research, tracing a journey from digital imagery to physical presence and opening a new chapter in material experimentation where textile becomes a living form.

Alcova links her work to the «Hyper Presence» trend direction, which centres on physical presence, material character and human connection. It acts as a counter-movement: not everything at home needs to measure or optimise us. «Bambi» is made of Ohoskin, a metallised material that looks technical and futuristic but derives from Sicilian orange by-products, a contrast that makes the object feel more human and approachable.
