Contemporary Ceramics Reclaims Its Connection to Memory and Territory at the interihotel MAD26 Craft Lab

Contemporary ceramics is going through a moment of renewal in which tradition and modernity converge. Ancestral techniques and materials tied to the territory are being reinterpreted through design, technology and experimentation. This evolution will take centre stage at Craft Lab, the contemporary craft space at interihotel MAD26, to be held from 17 to 19 November 2026 at IFEMA Madrid.

Under the concept «From Memory: Tradition and Modernity in Today’s Ceramics», and curated by journalist and curator Tachy Mora, the space will symbolically recreate a hotel lobby and lounge area. It will bring together mural compositions, large-format pieces, lighting and tableware to show how craftsmanship can go beyond the decorative and convey culture, heritage and emotional connections in hotels and restaurants.

Eight proposals will be presented: Buit Valencia, with a mural made from the Yperfectas collection; Artesanía no Prato, a Galician initiative that brings together craftspeople and chefs; Nuria Blanco, with Banquete, a mural of 36 plates that can be used as tableware; Cerámica a Mano Alzada, with a prefabricated stoneware ceramic lattice; Aniana Heras, with a coil-built mural; Pott Project, which will provide lighting inspired by the pottery tradition of Totana; Risco Estudio, which revives the pottery heritage of Buño; and todobarro, with a large three-dimensional mural from the Vélez collection created by Leblume studio.
